Farewell dinner at Amarin Heavenly Thai Mid Valley

28.07.2010.. Tanya's last day. Happy for her and also sad in other ways. We have been working together for years and now she is leaving for a better prospect.

We have our farewell dinner at Amarin Heavenly Thai in Mid Valley where this place is well known for good environment and good food.
Amarin, a place that I visited several times and food there is great, service is good, environment great and the price is reasonable to people who enjoy moderate pricing.  Food quality still the same. Besides my regular ordering of Pandan Chicken and Tom Yam Goong. We ordered something that is rather unusual that call as Ming Kiam.
Mieng Kam. A platter that includes: Daun Kaduk, ginger, onions, chili padi, lime, roasted dried prawns, roasted coconut and roasted peanut and some sauce that taste like Tau Chu paste (bean paste). As per my Colleague's guidance procedure : take a piece of daun kaduk, apply the sauce then add whatever in the platter, roll it up and then take a bite. Tasted the sour of the lime, the crunchiness of the peanut, the spiciness from the chili, the heat from the ginger, the fragrant of the coconut, dried prawns not a bad combination which surprisingly we love it. I actually made myself 2 roll to pop in my hungry mouth..(hungry ma..) Taste rate: 3.5/5

And follow by some of Amarin's famous dish such as Pandan Chicken (chicken meat marinated and wrap with Pandan leaves and deep fried). 5 pieces per serving.. If you love this dish I suggest you to order 2 serving for 4-5 person.. taste rate: 4.5/5
Asparagus stir fried with Garlic and Prawn.  Very Chinese I know but loving it. Taste rate: 4/5
Green Curry Chicken. Not bad but I prefer The Green Curry Beef though.  the chicken slices came with brinjals and long bean, the gravy was very rich and aromatic .Taste Rate: 3/5

Thick Tom Yam Seafood Soup. Its not thick as the mentioned name just the soup come is more rich form.In the soup you will find : chunks of fish, cuttlefish and prawns.Taste Rate: 4/5.

Last but not least, Deep Fried Calamari. I don't really enjoy this dish cause I've tried better one.  The Squid is rather rubbery but still goes perfect with the Thai Chili Sauce that comes with this dish.  Taste rate: 2.5/5

Few of us actually ordered my recommended Thai Ice Tea I guess local call this as 3 layers tea. Is ice tea serve with Gula Melaka, Evaporated Milk and crushed ice. Perfect combination.

Daniel ordered the Coconut Milk Shake which I want to try in my next visit as the look and the taste is superb.. I wonder is this is the one my new friend Justin wanted to bring us to try in Penang...hmmm
After the meal we presented our farewell gift to Tanya and gave some personal speech to her to wish her well.
So.. Tanya... Good luck and remember the days we've worked along side by side and keep in touch always as our makan makan trip still have a sit for you as always.. ~End~

The Guitar Hero - Slash

Saul Hudson aka Slash. I first knew this guitarist when I was 16th during my high school days. His master of guitar skills made him a legend today.
Slash have his signature large curly hair, ray ban aviator gold frame sun glasses, nose ring and his ever legend les paul Gibson guitar that I was dying to get (due to the high price and also me and my hubby can't play much songs, last Christmas we finally got ourselves the amateur version of the Gibson Les Paul Epiphone special II).

Knowing him from the moment he made his les paul cried loud when he played on the tune "November Rain" during his days with Guns and Roses. But most people may start knowing or rather notice this guitar god from their debut "Sweet Child O'Mine" from the Album Appetite for Destruction

Slash inspires me and my hubby mostly my hubby to play guitar. I remember he tells me that if he ever had a chance to meet Slash he will praise him and let him sign his Special II and lock up till his old age so he can share this precious moment with his grand children about the day he met Slash.
There are almost one time my hubby wanted to join force with all his die hard Slash fans ala close mat rock high school friends to form a group with me being a lead singer (cause that is the only thing I am good in).. In the end their wives and girlfriend bising so ended up they can only perform "air drum", "air bass" "air solo" in Karaoke and make me sing like as if I am pain (kena pinched hard).. (And actually one of them is a uztad)

I am so extremely crazy over Slash till one day I actually dress up like him in one of my company event "retro week". Due to lack of the signature curly long hair, My Senior VP says I looked like Ozzy Osborne. I guess I will let you guys to judge....

Anyways, Slash's passion towards music is infinite and this it selves made me proud to be his ultimate fan.

I will be going to his concert this coming August and I am sure many of you Slash fans out there can't wait to see him cast spell to his guitar to scream with beautiful sound for us to praise him to infinite... ~End~

P.S. (have anyone seen a guy called bucket head... he is actually cool too..)

Pork Chop in Section 20 PJ with friends.

Last Thursday I was having a massive red left eye with no bloody reason. Nothing unusual when I woke up till I reached my office. Colleague of mine Kim asked me what happened and why I have sharingan (if you are a Naruto fan you should know. If you are not, I will still show you what is that) . Then I looked into my hello kitty mirror and found myself with really red eye ball. Really bloody red. So I asked to take a day medical leave to consult doctor.
As I leave the office I double confirm with my makan pal Gin See, Tanya and Fung if our pork chop plan is still on. And with 100% yeses from them we shall be meeting at the pork chop stall 7.30pm.

Fast Forward with my red eye issue that is not solve even after consulting doctor. Meet up my bro, fung, Gin See, Tanya and late king hubby at the Millennium Coffee Shop at Section 20 Petaling Jaya (next to Caltex, O&S and opposite a Post Office & the famous herbal soup stall behind Giant). Ordered the recommended Hainanese sauce Pork Chop x 2, Black Pepper sauce Pork Chop x 1, Mushroom Sauce Pork Chop and 2 x Hainanese sauce Chicken Chop.

I am impress with not the sause but the mashed potatoe. Cause they actually mix the mashed with bacon meat.. Yum yum. The pork chop is not that great as it is sort of salty, but the meat is tender still.

The Mushroom sause is really yummy better taste than the black pepper as it is not that much of spicy - ness in it. The mash obviously goes really good along with this sauce as I quietly curi makan some of my hubby's and exchange a portion of my black pepper with his.

Gin See says her Chicken Chop with hainanse sause tasted really good.

Overall our meal is satisfied. Taste : 3/5, Price: 4/5, Must try: the Mushroom Sauce Pork Chop. We did inform the stall owner on the pork marinated with abit too much salt. And the owner very very friendly lady insist us to come to give another try as this time they might have overlooked on the staff who help marinate the meat. She also inform us that they serve meatloaf but due to the supplier a german lady balik kampung so not till further notice for that and besides fish and chips they also serve grill fish, what fish they serve for this dish? Dory Fish.

A promise is a promise. Will try out 1 more time on whatever in the menu and evaluate again. ~End~

Is reputation in a shit hole important?

I am having terrible soar throat today. Left side of my tonsil is red and painful. As you guys know being a customer service personnel voice is very important. Although sometimes very I'm bored I will make fun of customers to amuse myself and my fellow colleague ( just make sure your supervisor is out of sight before you think of doing it).

Back to the soar throat issue. As I was thinking for taking a medical leave, my hubby a straight and honest man start lecturing me of taking medical leave is not good for my reputation in the company. At that point I was thinking, is reputation in the shit hole where I am working is important?

I am working in a Singapore base Broadband service provider which basically dying since the took over by our new mother company Asia Netcom. And due to our customers are one of those people that will make a big fuzz for just $0.02 extra in the bill or customers that won't admit their wrong of not paying the bills and when the line suspended after non payment for 3 months and 3 reminders. They will call and scream at you by saying that you are a asshole, stupid customer service, or sometimes they will throw sentence like: your position is too low to speak to me, get your manager to call me".. So, that is the reason our company starts to gave up the hope to supply Singapore our service.

Back to why I call my work place a shit hole. How do you feel if you're working in a department that everyone I MEAN EVERYONE except 1 or maybe 2 not, is looking for either transfer out of her supervision or look for another job opportunity and walk out of the company forever. Maybe she does not know or may be this company's top management does not know how and what people they are keeping and what people they have let go.

As I arrived at work, I told some of my colleagues who noticing my sick look of what my hubby says they laughed and ask back.."do we have good reputation here? I mean like we do good but did company appreciate good worker here? DO they see what we've done good here? Then what is the point of maintaining good reputation here then?" Well for most of the people who read this blog might think that we are all very passive. But hey.. if you are staying in this company then you will know. I stop recommending good workers here since they only hire people they want to gang up for a reason but not looking for work performance. This pattern already started in my own department. That is the reason why we all start to look for better opportunity to get out from here.

Come to the end of it, I am still here cause I listens to my hubby, but the throat is still getting worse and my voice is fading away. I will get some herbal tea during lunch to ease the inner heat in my body.

For me, good reputation is important if company know how to appreciate and create opportunity for potential employee. A place with good motivation and healthy competition able to provide equal rights to all. But the company that I am currently working at, shows total opposite of what I have mentioned as a good company and worse of all, this company practice buyers. ~End~

The one about FIFA World Cup Part 2

11th July 2010. Counting down hour to the final day of 2010 FIFA World Cup. Usual busy high traffic area are sooo quiet with very minimal patron visiting. I guess everyone is saving their own energy for the 2.30 AM match.

As usual my first call to my friend is to check on Paul the Octopus predict who will win the match. Although I am not sure if Paul the Octo can give a 100% accuracy prediction as Germans are giving signal that they will eat him as he predicted the match between Germany vs Spain and as his 100% accuracy Paul the Octo says Spain and Spain it is.. World Cup predictions of Paul — the remarkable oracle octopus whose knack for predicting the outcome of games has earned him worldwide fame as well as “revenge grilling” death threats from country that has been predicted a lost in the game.

Final prediction from Paul... Winner should be SPAIN!!! yes one of my favourite team among this season of World Cup. I find Germany plays like Nazi, Brazil played like dancing samba, England.. my 1st option team and my all time favourite lost and Spain.. the way they played is like swaping partners during tango.. Beautiful plus they have quite a handfull of super stars playing in it.

The way I safe my energy.. sleep thru the whole afternoon, woke up and hang around with my friend in 1 Utama.. suppose to eat BBQ Plaza but 3 of us ended up in Neway eating not that great Buffet and sing from 6.30pm till 1am. 1 1/2 hours before the ball game starts. Thought of stayed back to watch the final in 1 Utama as they are having the Final Kick Off Party. But can't do so cause both of us need to work in another 6 hours. Rushed back feed my hungry dog Rain and bring her out for a quick toilet break and both of us tucked in our comfy bed and start watching Astro.. wait for 2.30am.. while waiting I flip the channel to History Channel and happened to watch the Tsunami 24th December 2006 real clips from survisors of the Tsunami hit. Very sad, seeing people struggle to stayed alive but in the end still being washed away by the wave. Terrible.

Well mtach starts in exact 2.30am and great attack and defend from both Holland and Spain. Many opportunity for Holland but good save by the Spain Goal Keeper Iker Casillas. During Half time I quickly rush to have my small business done and guess what, my neighbour which also happens to watch the game at home cooking Maggie Mee. Man.. those curry flavor flow in thru my wash room's window. As soon as I finish pee - ing I dug out my Maggie mee and start cooking too. Talk about temptation.
Game went all the way till extra time and finally Spain scores winning by 1 Goal at 28mins during the extra time. Last score for this final is Holland 0 - 1 Spain. Again, Salute to Paul the Octopus.. and as soon as the extra time is done.. immediately we switch off the TV and sleep.
So Brazil 2014, wait for us. We will be marching to Rio to catch the final no matter what. Since my hubby is a total Brazil fan and I love the Ipanema Beach. but the cost is a killer. Atleast, I mean by estimate with this season's World Cup travelling + accomadation + ticket to watch the Final + 50% of the total cost just incase comes out to MYR 36,000... pray for me to hit the jackpot..Till then See You Again World Cup. ~End~

The one about Did I married a right person?

Normally, I do not talk about things like this cause it is a sensitive issue to most people around me. But after reading an article about "Did I married a right person" well I guess I have to share some feeling out to y’all.

When we were young, we always talk about something like :"when I grow up, I want to merry a prince charming..or a handsome guy or..whichever handsome super star that walked in to our mind… As for me I married a total reverse side of what i used to dream of. (As you all who knew me know what i am talking about) SO WHAT?!?! I mean as we grew older our expectation and desire changed.

My point here is, the one that you thought you can spend the rest of your life with most of the time will not be the one you desire or hope for. It may turns out to be a kind that you least wanted. Why dream of things that will not actualise.

Seriously, I used to SWEAR my lung out saying "I WILL NOT EVEN DATE A AH BENG FROM ANYWHERE NEAR CHERAS AT ALL!!!!" guess what ladies and gentlemen.. It’s A CURSE!! as y’all knew, my hubby is a Typical Cheras Pandan Indah guy (born and raise in Cheras type). So does that mean I am not happy? Does that mean that he can’t give me happiness that i want? Nope..May be sometimes my childish behaviors and high demand could trigger some fights, but deep down I do understand he loves me more than I can say. I won’t deny that one day I may be the person complaining about why my husband this or why my husband that.. But at least for now I deeply remember how hard we have been thru to be here now. That is why we appreciate each other even though I have been quite a cry baby lately. Asking my love all the time:"will you turn your back and walk away from me one day?" is a waste of breath most of the time by asking this silly question, cause the answer is always with us all along as the way we always hold our hands while we were in the car, patients towards each other’s act of stupidity. Willing to act "siao" in front of me "as my request" (mainly dancing like a ballerina, act the scene of tong long kuen and jiong bao).
People that ask the question :" Did I merry the right person." or rather said I married a wrong person. I protest. You should know who you choose when you made an decision to merry that girl or merry to that guy. You made an decision that you want her for the rest of your life till death do y’all apart, not half way your thru marriage then way, I have got the wrong one, No. We are not Celebrities, and even if we are, it is not a thing to even think of.
Lastly, to my hubby and friends, I love y’all. I have to say this to all of you, don’t give up hope when things turns out not the way you thought it would be, think of the long road we’ve walked thru to come to this stage being married to each other, then the sourness will be vanished and remain all good ones within both of your heart.

The one about FIFA World Cup Part 1

Ahh~~ yes.. It is the time the moment again.. World Cup final Spain vs Holland.
1 whole month. Not enough sleep, deeply hurt when England failed to reach top 8, and Brazil been knocked down by Holland and Germany failed to reached to the top 2. I am sure alot of soccer fans around the world had a great shock when Brazil being nailed by Holland and wonder why. My husband, the ultimate brazil fan (which he even turned is seach engine skin to Brazil flag), felt extreme sad as he never expected this would happen in his birthday (the match ended few minutes before his birthday arrives)but it was fun.. Imagine sitting in a food court with thousands of people cheering, roaring, drinking teh ice.. all seems concentrate staring at the 2 storey height projector screen. one on goal incident you will hear crazy roar all over the foodcourt.. but 1 particular place we went watching the match between Argentina vs Germany is so unforgetable. Yup is a new club called SixtyNine. Location in Batu Ferringhi just right next to The Ship..

This club is small but nice. Imagine the inner deco is very victorian and the mid part is a swimming pool and the end part is a beach club. For us we choosen the mid part where the fun part is.. sitting in a pool.. Not wet but really sitting in a pool, where they put all the chairs and table in the height of a baby pool and you need to take off your shoes (advisable not to wear to glamour if you want to sit in this section) and step in the pool. The part where we were sitting in is the left site of the pool. the right side would be a 4 - 5 ft height pool where you actually can swim in it. When Germany got their 3 rd goal few guys from the other table actually jumped in and celebrate. We had 1 bucket of heineken, me a glass of classic cosmopolitan and my friend fung had skrew driver. Although lady luck is not at Argentina's side, but still we enjoyed the moment sitting in a pool drinking and play water at the same time.
Now~ I am waiting to see who will be crown as this season's World Cup champion would it be viva la Espana or Milky Holland.. I foresee Spain will be the Proud Winner as the lady luck sticked to Spain and according to FIFA history this is their first time being in final. Good Luck Spain!!
